Obituary for Clarence Edward Wright Clarence Edward Wright, age 80, of Kents Ridge Road section of Cedar Bluff, VA, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his home. Clarence was born in Jewell Ridge, VA and was the son of the late Jonce Samuel and Marjorie June Stevenson Wright. He was a 16-year veteran of the U.S. Navy serving time during Vietnam.
He was retired from American Wire in Rhode Island where he had lived most of his life. After moving to the Richlands area 14 years ago, he went to work for Cumberland Security. Clarence loved his job working security for Clinch Valley Medical Center, it allowed him the opportunity to converse with such a wide variety of people.
He was a longtime fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Cedar Bluff Community Church and the Chapel of Love. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joel and Richard Wright; his first wife, Shirley Wright; and Ronald Russ.
He is survived by: His Wife, Josephine “Jo” Martin Russ Wright Daughter: Cheryl Ann Spencer and husband, Jim of RI Rhonda Meade and husband, Darrell of Cedar Bluff, VA Renee Glass and husband, Brian of Shepherdsville, KY Son: Richard Lee Wright of Columbus, TN Sisters: Betty Wright Campbell of Blackey, KY Susie Culbertson of Cedar Bluff, VA Brothers: Roy Lee Wright and wife, Dorothy of Cedar Bluff, VA Jonce Mickey Wright of Elizabethton, KY Special Niece, June Marie Wilson Special Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law, James and Gwen Martin of Ormond Beach, FL Grandchildren: Timothy Horgan and wife, Sarah; Dan Horgan, Chad Meade and wife, Julie; Chase Meade-Patton and husband, Jeff; Carson Glass and Cailyn Glass; Great Grandchildren: Abbey, Noah, Hanna, Ella-Rae, Hollyn Bleu Several nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews also survive along with a host of family and friends. Funeral services for Clarence Edward Wright will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with Rev. Richard Smith, Rev.
Roger Lester, and Rev. J.C. Johnson officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, VA.
Pallbearers will be: Jonce Culbertson, Mac Culbertson, Cpt Jon Wright, James William Martin, Chad Meade, Jeff Patton, Greg Street, Brian Glass, Darrell Meade, Carson Glass and Noah Meade. The Employees of Cumberland Security and Clinch Valley Medical Center will serve as honorary pallbearers. The Wright family will be receiving friends from 6-9 pm on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
