Obituary for Cora Helen McCracken Cora Helen McCracken, age 93, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. She was born in West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Arthur Garrett and Martha Austin Whited. She was a life long resident of the Jewell Ridge and Richlands area and was a retired cook from the Tazewell County School System.
She was a member of Harvest Outreach Ministries in Richlands, Virginia and was a former member of Jewell Ridge Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer C. McCracken; five children, James Palmer McCracken, Carolyn Louise “Jenny Lou” Kestner, Nancy Jean Anderson, Constance Sue McCracken, and Mary Yvonne Pruett; two sisters and two brothers. Survivors are: Sons: Arthur Joseph McCracken and wife, Sandy of Richlands, Virginia Jeffrey McCracken and wife, Guyetta of Rosedale, Virginia John Luther McCracken of Richlands, Virginia Sister: Mary Alice Billings and husband, Don of Kingsport, TN Special Caregivers: Sandy Lowe Blankenship, Tenielle Sanders, and Buck Sargent Eight Grandchildren, Fourteen Great Grandchildren, and Four Great-Great Grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Cora McCracken will be conducted Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 7pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dickie Plaster and Rev. Malcolm Stuart officiating.
Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 2pm. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to line up at the funeral home by 1:30pm. Pallbearers will be: Austin Kestner, Alex Lawson, Jason Lowe, Brian Lowe, James Lester, and Jerry Hendrick.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jackie Kestner, Nathan Stanley, Tim Fields, Tony Yates, and Clay Smith.
