Obituary for Shirley Ruith Tibbs Shirley Ruth Tibbs, age 85 of Tazewell, VA died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Radford, VA. She was born June 12, 1933 in Gate City, VA and was the daughter of the late James F. Snodgrass and Lula Starnes Snodgrass. Mrs. Tibbs was a 1951 graduate of Gate City High School and was a manager at Dollar General.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dewey Tibbs, Jr.; two daughters, Mary Louise Snodgrass, and Sandra Leffel; one son, Mark Tibbs; one sister, Emily Dempster; two brothers, Harry Lee Snodgrass, and H.E. Snodgrass. Those who survive to cherish her memory include one sister, Sara Stockton of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Angela Leighton & husband, Ben, Adam Leffel, Benjamin Samaniego, and Mark Tibbs, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Vamille Leffel, Grayson Leighton, and Ryann Leighton. Services for Ms. Tibbs will be private.
