Obituary for Gloria Jean Canady Gloria Jean Canady age 71 of Tazewell, VA died Friday, November 16, 2018 at her home. Gloria was born March 5, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan and was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Annabelle Horning Mettner and step dad, George Laboube. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She took great pride in being a mother, homemaker and beautician. She had lived in the Tazewell area since 1981and attended Tazewell Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and step-father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Preston McGrady Canady, Sr. Those left to cherish her memories include; daughters, Valerie Avent and husband, Larry of Abingdon, VA, and Jennifer Kinser and husband, Jason of Tazewell, VA; sons, Preston M. Canady, Jr. and wife, Rebecca of Bluefield, WV, David M. Canady and wife, Michelle of Charleston, WV, Benjamin J. W. Canady of Tazewell, VA.
Grandchildren, Terry and Bethannah Stilwell, Crystal Stilwell, Brittany and Jason Gillespie, Melanie Mitchellson, Jody and Byron Bowman, Steve Johnson, Jessica Jones, Jayson and Tori Canady, Glen and Hannah Canady, Craig Canady, Daniel and Phillip Kinser; Great Grandchildren, Jaden and McKinnley Stilwell, Tyler and Haylee Gillespie, Amelia and Rylee Canady and Hunter Bowman. Special longtime friend and care taker, Mary Jane Marrs, former son-in-law, Terry Stilwell, Sr. Funeral services for Ms. Canady will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Minister Lee Blackburn officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
Pallbearers will be Jason Kinser, Larry Avent, Terry Stilwell, Jr., Jason Gillespie, Jayson Canady, Glen Canady, Craig Canady, Steven Johnson, Daniel Kinser, Phillip Kinser and Tyler Gillespie. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2018.
