Obituary for Mary R. Meyer Moore Mary R. Meyer Moore, age 85, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Cedar Bluff, Virginia following a lengthy illness. She was born on April 26, 1933 in Cambridge, Maryland and was the daughter of the late August and Bessie Windsor Meyer. Mary had spent most of her life in the Richlands area and was a retired RN.
She was a Class of 1951 graduate from Cambridge High School and obtained her nursing degree from the University of Maryland and Franklin Square Hospital of Baltimore, Maryland. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Clara Handy, Esther Hurley, Dorothy Henry, Bessie Neild, Sarann Bradshaw, Amelia Mills; brothers, Perry, August, Phillip, Bick and David Meyer. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are her: Husband, Dr. Ernest E. Moore of Cedar Bluff, VA Daughters: Barbara Moore Mills-Neighoff and husband, Ted of Vienna, MD Lora Beth Reece and husband, Neil of Wesley Chapel, FL Sons: Tom Moore of Cedar Bluff, VA Robert E. Moore and wife, Debbie of Big Stone Gap, VA Brothers: Windsor Meyer and wife, Peggy of Laurel, DE Rev. Donald Meyer and wife, Norma of DE Grandchildren, Carey Mills, Elizabeth Witt, T.J. Moore, Ben Moore, and Mary Shea Mills Great Grandchildren, Katelynn Witt, Bryson Moore, Everett Witt, and Loren Witt.
Funeral services for Mary R. Meyer Moore will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with the Rev. Rod Tkach officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA.
Grandsons and Relatives will serve as pallbearers. The family will begin to receive friends at 12:00 pm on Wednesday until time of service at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, as the Lord lays on hearts, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 402 Suffolk Ave, Richlands, VA 24641; Legacy Hospice, 1963 Second St, Richlands, VA 24641, or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 in Mary’s name.
