Obituary for Florene Powers Ferrell Florene Powers Ferrell, age 92 of Oakwood, Virginia passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in Abingdon, Virginia following a brief illness. She was born in Dickenson County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Ira and Dosie Potter Powers. Florene had worked for Western Auto, Garden High School Cafeteria and Island Creek Company Store and was the manager and owner of the Gold Key Restaurant.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry Ritter Ferrell; sister, Elocia Ratliff; brother, Wert Powers. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Her son, Gary Ferrell of Oakwood, VA Daughters: Teresa Frazier of Abingdon, VA Denise Clevinger of Narrows, VA Grandchildren, Olivia Haimani, Melanie Kjar, Tara Switzer and Trista Clevinger. Great Grandchildren, Leila Haimani, Amelia Kjar, Curtis Kjar, and Will Switzer.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia, with the Rev. Steve Castle officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
