Obituary for Jonathan Thomas Roberts Jonathan Thomas Roberts, age 40 of Richlands, Virginia passed away on, Thursday, October 18, 2018 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of Sheilah Lynn Cole Roberts Cox and the late Thomas Douglas Roberts. As a young boy, he was the first youth to adopt a highway and later became the president of the Boys Clean Team that helped to keep the area roadways clean.
Jonathan was honored to have been a 1st Lieutenant in the ROTC. His hobbies included working on computers, and tinkering as a mechanic on cars and he was a former AT&T Representative. He had a flair for writing and poetry, with a unique style all his own.
He was of the In Jesus Name/Episcopal faith a lifetime resident of the area. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole Ranae Roberts; step dad, David W. Cox; In-laws, Ricky and Greta Prichard and paternal grandparents, Clarence and Rosie Roberts. Those who remain to carry on his spirit are: His loving wife of 23 years, Sharon Ranae Prichard Roberts of Richlands, VA Sons, Nathaniel Taylor Roberts and Cole Tyler Roberts both of Richlands, VA Daughter, Briana Lynn Roberts of Richlands, VA Mother, Sheilah Lynn Cole Roberts Cox of White Mountain, VA Sister, Carrie Vanessa Lynn Collins and husband, Rodney of Cedar Bluff, VA Brother, Jeremy Chad Roberts and companion, Elizabeth Mullins of Baptist Valley, VA Maternal grandparents, Delbert Lee and Helen Cole of White Mountain, VA Step-brothers, Brian Cox and Peter Cox both of NY Brother and Sister In-law, Jason and Diana Kendrick of Hidden Valley, VA Nephews, Jason and Jacob Kendrick and Joshua Prichard Loving Nieces, Sierra and Jadin Collins The funeral service for Jonathan T. Roberts will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, with the Rev.
Roger Pete Woods and Alan Gross officiating. Interment will follow at the Cole Family Cemetery located on White Mountain, Virginia. Pallbearers will be, Rodney Collins, Ryan Honaker, Joshua Cole, Ralph Cole, Roger Cole, Randall Cole, David Hess, Brian Honaker and Timmy Cole.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6-9 at the funeral home.
