Obituary for Robert Edward Lane Sr. Robert Edward Lane, Sr. age 87 of Pounding Mill, Virginia passed away at his home on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Raven, Virginia and was the son of the late, Courtney and Mary Bales Lane. He was a 1949 graduate of Richlands High School and attended SVCC and Bluefield College.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Honor Squad of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post # 9640. Robert was a retired office manager for Per-Mac Coal Company. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was a lifetime resident of the area. Those who remain to carry on his spirit are his: Loving wife, Charlotte Lane of Pounding Mill, VA Daughter, Patricia Carol Lane and husband, Howard of Honaker, VA Sons: Robert E. Lane, Jr. of Richlands, VA Charles Timothy Lane of Pounding Mill, VA Sister, Vera Bulach of Akron, OH Grandchildren, Rebecca Rasnake and husband, Kenneth; Jonathan Lowe and wife, Tara; Lucky Joe Lane; Robert E. Lane, III and wife, Amy. Nine great grandchildren and many friends also survive.

The funeral service for Robert E. Lane, Sr will be conducted at 11:00am on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands with the Rev. J.C. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be the members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 and they will also conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 pm on Friday evening at the funeral home.
