Fredrick J. Smith Jr. of Indian River passed away on December 23, 2018 at his home. Fred was born on December 1, 1942 in Detroit, MI the son of Fredrick Smith Sr. and Marjorie (Williams) Smith. He grew up in Redford Township and attended school at Redford Union High School.

He married Wanda Louise Howard in the early 1980’s in Novi. The couple soon after moved to Fowlerville, MI. Fred proudly served his country for two years in the United States Navy where he was stationed in Chicago.

Fred enjoyed antique cars and railroad trains. He also liked taking care of his chickens and salt water fish. Fred was a member of Northern Rods and Rides.

Fred is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Smith, brother David Smith and sister Barbara Stachak, nieces and nephews Brian Smith, Laura Bienek, Lorien (Kim) Stachak, and Melvin (Lori) Elsey. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother in law Florian Stachak, granddaughter Wanda Jane Smith, and niece Cheryl (Tom) Shepherd. A Memorial Mass for Fred will be at the Indian River Cross in the Woods Catholic Church on Saturday, December 29th.

Visitation will begin at 11am with the Mass at 12pm. Friends and family are welcome to share memorials and offer online condolences at www. stonefuneralhomeinc.com The family was served by the Lintz Funeral Home.
