Obituary for Gail P. Toedebusch Gail P. Toedebusch, age 72, of Richmond, Indiana, died peacefully at home Tuesday, June 12, 2018, following a courageous battle with Glioblastoma, a malignant brain tumor. Born January 29, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, to Albert and Hilda Petri, Gail’s early childhood was spent briefly in Pasadena, California, and later in Columbia, Missouri, where she attended elementary and high school. Gail graduated from Christian College (2 year) on a full academic scholarship and later completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
Following college, she married William Toedebusch on August 2, 1969. Gail moved to Richmond in 1982 and was supportive of her husband’s medical career and the arts. She was a board member of the former Whitewater Opera Company and a charter member and founder of Civic Hall Associates.
Gail was proud of her family heritage; her grandfather, John G. Neihardt was a writer and Poet Laureate of Nebraska. She was an avid reader and book collector and also enjoyed bowling. Gail was known for her devotion and unconditional love for her family.
The entire family has been long term members of First English Lutheran Church. She will be deeply missed by all of her family. Survivors include her husband of almost 49 years, Bill; daughter, Allison (Matt) Tierney of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; son, John Toedebusch of Denver, Colorado; granddaughters, Lillian and Sophia Tierney; sister, Coralie (Robert) Hughes; brother, Robin (Joy) Neihardt; nieces, Alexis Petri, Kristel Hughes, and Ariel Stanley; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Petri and mother, Hilda Neihardt. Memorial visitation for Gail P. Toedebusch will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018, at First English Lutheran Church, 2727 East Main Street, Richmond. A memorial service and Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00 p.m. at First English Lutheran Church with Pastor John R. Walker and Pastor Chip Belanga officiating.
Mr. Richard Holmes, a very dear friend, with the Metropolitan Opera will be singing at the memorial service. A luncheon will be held at the church after the service. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
