Obituary for Gary Michael Landry Gary Michael Landry was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the age of 64. He was born September 15, 1953 in New Orleans and was the son of the late John Landry, Sr. and Josephine Stewart Landry. Mr. Landry was a former Music Teacher/Choir Director in New Orleans Public Schools.

He was also a renowned local Organist/Choir Director at various churches throughout the Metro New Orleans area. Mr. Landry was educated at Phillip’s Elementary/Junior High Schools, John Donogh Senior High School, Jessie Wagner Chriss School of Piano, Audubon Commercial College, Electronic Data Processing Institute, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, University of New Orleans and Southern University of New Orleans. He was preceded in death by his parents; John Landry Sr. and Josephine Stewart Landry; his brothers and sisters, Edgar Landry Sr., Judith Smith, Glenn H. Landry, John Landry Jr. and Joyce L. Scott; his favorite aunt, Ruth Young and his godmother, Emelda Stewart.

He also leaves to cherish memories his devoted sister, Sharon L. Edwards; his loving sister, Jacqueline D. Landry; nieces and nephews, Monique R. Bailey, Kimberly M. Edwards, Dana A. Scott, Peter J. Jackson and Edgar Landry Jr.; great nephews, Mark A. Bailey, Maurice Bailey, Morris E. Thornton, Gregory A. Edwards; a great, great nephew, Malcolm Bailey and a host of other relatives, friends and extended family. Relatives and friends of the family, pastors, officers and members of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church #2, Carver Desire Baptist Church, Beacon Light International Ministries, Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, Greater St. Stephens Baptist Church and all neighboring churches, also employees of Orleans Parish Schools, Recovery School District and Friends of King School District are invited to attend a Musical Celebration of Life Service at D.W. Rhodes Chapel, 3933 Washington Ave. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 1:00 pm.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm. Private Burial. Arrangements by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home.
