Obituary for Isadora Thomas Isadora Turner Thomas affectionately known by everyone as “Ms. Issie” the oldest of five children born to the late Hillard and Philonese Turner in Woodville, Mississippi on March 10, 1944. At age 74, Isadora answered the call of her heavenly father. Her commitment and love for Christ was matched by her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren.
Isadora accepted Christ at an early age at Rock of Ages Baptist Church in New Orleans. As an adult, she joined St. James Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joseph S. Tilly and later she joined Circle Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev.
Jose Mathews and served as a deaconess. Isadora attended Felena C. Jones Elementary School, Rivers Fredrick Junior High School and graduated from Joseph S. Clark High School in 1962. She continued her education at Florida A & M University in 1963 and pursued her passion to become a nurse at Booker T. Washington Nursing School and was licensed as a nurse in 1969.
After, receiving her nursing license she worked at various hospitals including the former Charity Hospital. Isadora retired from the Louisiana State University (LSU) Medical Center in 1999 in Urology. She was a very skilled nurse and enjoyed mentoring and training other nurses throughout her career, including her daughter Christie.
Isadora was married to the late Hubert B. Clark, Sr. until his death and to that union one son was born. She married the late Beauregard Thomas in 1970 and to this union two daughters were born, Nikki and Christie. Isadora leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved daughters, Nikki (Larry) Laurent Christie Lynn Thomas, and son.
Her beloved grandchildren, Joshua Laurent, Bailey Lynn Thomas and Durrell Laurent, Aunt Sufronia Jolla and Family, uncles, siblings, cousins and her lifelong friends Mabel Campbell, Ben Harris, and a host of family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastor, officers and members of Circle Baptist Church of Baker LA, and St. James Methodist Church of LA, along with Egan Hospice, Tulane University Medical Center and Clinic, LSUHSC, and Joseph S. Clark Class of 1962 are all invited to a prompt 10:00 A.M. Graveside Service on Friday June 15, 2018 at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery. Services entrusted to D.W.
