Gene A. Frederick, 73, of New Berlin, went to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his wife and children, Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born June 19, 1945, in Lewisburg, a son of Olive (Rheppard) Frederick of Mifflinburg and the late Ralph “Barney” Frederick. On April 18, 1964, in New Berlin, he married the former Lynda Gosselin, who survives.

Gene was a 1963 graduate of Mifflinburg High School and then attended National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio. He served in the Army Reserves from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1972. He was employed at Faylor-Middlecreek, in road construction for 26 years.

Gene also worked at James Julian, Inc. for 11 years, and retired from Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. Gene was a member of the Winfield Baptist Church where he served as usher, monitor, and on the Fellowship Committee. He was a member of the Buffalo Rod and Gun Club. Gene was an avid hunter and one of the greatest thrills of his life was seeing his oldest grandson, Joe, shoot his first buck.

In September, he lived out a dream of touring out west for a month with his lifelong love, Lynda, on their second honeymoon. Gene loved his wife, his family, his church, and spending time outdoors. In addition to his wife of 54 years, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Melissa Frederick of New Berlin, and Matthew and Mandie Frederick of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Chris Davis of Mifflinburg; seven grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Emily and Andrew Frederick, and Sydney, Joseph, Samantha, Nathan, and Abby Davis; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Steve McFall of Chesapeake, Virginia; one nephew, Michael McFall and his wife Laura of Chesapeake; and great niece and great nephew, Morgan and Aaron.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother Terry L. Frederick in 1968. Memorial gifts may be made to the Winfield Baptist Church, 330 State Route 304, Winfield, PA 17889. Services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd. , Mifflinburg.
