Obituary for George S. Martin George S. Martin, 90, a longtime resident of Hastings-on-Hudson passed away peacefully on October 16, 2018. Born March 11, 1928 in Hastings-on-Hudson, he was the son of the late Beatrice Semmens Martin and George D. Martin. George was a graduate of Hastings High School and attended Pace University in NYC.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S Army Signal Corp. in Eritrea, East Africa. George was also a past commander of James Daley Post #200 V.F.W. and Admiral Farragut Post #1195 American Legion serving several terms, and has been Memorial Day Parade Chairman for several years.

George married his beloved Mary L. Ahlstedt on February 1, 1953 at Holy Rosary Church in Yonkers. He was a member of First Reformed Church in Hastings, having been baptized there and serving on the church consistory as Vice President. George was also a former member of Lud-Dale Association in Yonkers serving as Financial Secretary and Director of Instruction of Baseball and Basketball.

He retired from General Electric Co after serving 36 years and was a school crossing guard for 20 years in Hastings. George is survived by his 4 children David (Deborah) Martin, Nancy (John) Dukarm, Glenn (Nancy) Martin and Paul Martin, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his dear wife Mary on October 16, 2015 and by his brother Walter and his wife Peggy.
