George T. Chaney. 95, of Frederick, Maryland went to be with our Lord peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Kline Hospice House. Born June 20, 1923 in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, he was the son of the late Richard Jesse and Grace Virginia Chaney.

He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Madeline Demaree Chaney who passed away on March 3, 2014 after 50 years of marriage. After graduating from Maryland Park, H.S. in 1941, George joined American Security Bank in Washington, D.C. as a cashier. He later received a diploma from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking of the American Bankers Association in cooperation with Rutgers University.

Mr. Chaney was employed with American Security Bank his entire career and retired as a Vice President after 42 years. He retired in Naples, Florida. Mr. Chaney was a veteran of World War II.

George enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1943 and served in the 90th Infantry Division in the Battle of Normandy, as well as, the Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. He received an honorable discharge in December 1945 after receiving a Good Conduct Medal, a Meritorious Unit Award, a European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and a World War II Victory Ribbon. Mr. Chaney served in the Benning Lions Club of Washington, D.C. for many years, including the office of Presidency.

George was an avid golfer. He was an original long-time member of Holly Hills Country Club and later enjoyed playing with the MISGA group out of Musket Ridge Golf Club. He also enjoyed reading, bowling and gardening.

George was a devoted Christian and member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church. He is survived by five children, Robin Conway (Frank), Michael (Patricia), George (Carol), Dan (Gina) and Jim; ten grandchildren, Brendan, Grant, Kate, Matthew, Mark, Luke, Sydney, Rebecca, Christopher and Scott; and one great grandchild, Kayla. He is also survived by one brother, Robert Chaney and one sister, Margaret Peak.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Chaney. Arrangements are being made by Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus. The family will receive friends and family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Monday, October 29, 2018.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the funeral home. Pastor Dana Werts will officiate. Interment will be at the Bethesda United Methodist Church cemetery at 11900 Bethesda Church Rd, Damascus.
