Gladys was born March 6, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Cristobal and the late Luz (Toledo) Rivera. She is the second oldest of seven children.

Gladys married Vicente Palmerin September 27th 1980. Together they had two daughters, Julia Marie Palmerin and Chelsi Caitlin (Kevin) Nikkel. She became a grandmother in 2011 to her granddaughter Alijah Marie Palmerin.

Gladys is survived by her by her siblings Liz (Killian) Rios, Chris Rivera, Angel (Elisabeth) Rivera, Lucia (Faris) Suqi, Johnny (Suzie) Rivera, Manuel (Mary) Rivera and many nieces and nephews. Gladys was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She took it upon herself to cherish all who came into her life.

She professed her love for Jesus Christ at a young age. She regularly attended Bible study and volunteered at church functions. She loved reading, writing and would travel as much as she could and instilled that love upon her two daughters.

She worked to cultivate life long friendships and prioritized the needs of her family above all else. She was loving and kind to all who crossed her path and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held Sunday January 13th at Covenant Church at 250 S. St. Mary’s Rd in Libertyville, Illinois 60048.
