Gloria M. Costa, 89 of Eltingville, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 23, 2019 after a long illness, in the home she has lived in for 53 years. Born Monday, March 24, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Fopeano and the late Olive Scrivani Fopeano. Gloria was raised in Brooklyn, attending St Rose of Lima Elementary and after high school for a time worked as a secretary.

Gloria met and married her husband Santo Costa, and became a home maker, settling in Eltingville in 1965. Gloria was an excellent cook, and extremely social. Gloria would regularly entertain her many friends and relatives at their home.

In her later years Gloria and Santo relished cruises together to various places. She was member of the Great Kills Friendship Club. She was active, and would routinely exercise at the South Shore JCC.

Gloria was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Santo Costa. Loving mother of Diane Vitale and John Costa. Dear mother in law of Donald Vitale and Karen Costa.

Cherished grandmother of Sara, Steven, Jamie, and Matthew. Adored sister of Olive Fopeano and the late Jack Fopeano and fond sister in law of the late Mary Fopeano. A Funeral service will be held on Friday at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312.

Time to be announced Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
