Obituary of Grace Rita Hagen Grace Hagen, 91, of Esville, our friendly, social, devoted, and sometimes feisty mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Grace was born in Bay City on April 29, 1927, the daughter of the late Vincent and Josephine (Kowalski) Oldinski. While at the gas station one day, she happened to meet Owen Hagen.
They dated, fell in love, and eloped to be united in marriage on September 25, 1948. Owen preceded Grace on October 30, 2001. Throughout life, Grace was known for her excellent sewing and crocheting skills.
Owen & Grace enjoyed time spent in Caseville during their retirement and met many longtime friends. Grace was talented with any type of crafts, especially ceramics. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), where she was a member of their Altar Society.
Grace was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and the Auxiliary at Bay Medical Care Facility, even attending meetings while she was a resident. Grace will be lovingly remembered, and deeply missed by her family and countless friends at many of the area stores where she frequented. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, James (Jean) Hagen, Janet (Randy) Stagray, Susan Peters; grandchildren, Dawn Robinson, James J. (Terry) Hagen, Scott Hagen, Michael (Alexa) Hagen, Trisha (Gavin) Bosco, Tracie (Robert) Boucha; many great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Brockway; sister-in-law, Frances Oldinski, along with countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Grace was welcomed home to heaven by her siblings, Edwin (Lucille) Oldinski, Romaine (Floyd) Gibas, Mary (Ed) Marchelewicz, Stanley Oldinski, Virginia Morel, Edna (Fred) Hover, and Patricia Oldinski; father and mother-in-law, James & Ethel Hagen, and in-laws, Bernard Brockway and Bernice & Harold Murphy. Grace’s family will be present to receive visitors on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 9:00 AM until Grace’s 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Esville. The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery.
