Obituary of Edith Marie Shackley Edie Shackley, 91, of Bay City, our energetic and selfless mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Sheffield Bay. Edie was born in Bay City on October 15, 1926, the daughter of Steven and Frances (Woloshyk) Stachowski. She graduated in 1944 from Bay City Central and through friends happened to meet Harold V. Shackley.

They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 12, 1946. After many years, Edie retired as a loan officer from School Employees Credit Union (now Sunrise). She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish (St. Stanislaus Kostka Church) and will be forever remembered for her love of wine tasting, crossword puzzles, and short trips.

Those who knew Edie, knew she was one to keep up with the times. She enjoyed tending to her Facebook account and online games, and her spunky attitude will always live on. She leaves to cherish her memory, her three children: Linda (Bruce) Manning, Larry Shackley (Sandy Pitts), and Connie (Barry) Wiescinski.

She was the most wonderful and supportive grandma of Bruce (Carolyn) Manning III, John Manning, Jeremy (Jacki) Manning, Chad Shackley (David Bowden), Keith (Mary) Shackley, Scott (Melissa) Shackley, and Chad (Louane) Wiescinski. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her great-grandchildren, Bruce IV & Emma Manning, Asher & Avery Manning, Sophie & Sam Shackley, and Emmanuele Daproza, along with her sister, Eleanor Kulka, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Edie will be deeply missed by her beloved neighbors on 26th Street.

Edie was preceded in death by her father, Steven Stachowski; mother, Frances Rasmus; husband, Harold in 1996 after nearly 50 years of marriage; siblings, Eugene (Eleanor) Stack, Valerie (Joseph) Welter, Margaret (Edward) Bosco, and brothers-in-law, Eugene Talaga and Edwin Kulka. Edie’s family will be present to receive visitors on Monday, September 10, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Tribute Cocktail Hour at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd. , Hampton Twp.

The Rite of Committal will be held privately in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Edie’s hospice nurse, Tabitha from McLaren, along with the entire staff of Sheffield Bay for their compassionate care.
