Gwendolyn Ann Houston April 29, 1962 – May 13, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Gwendolyn Ann Houston was born April 29, 1962 in Flint, Michigan to Booker T. Houston, Jr. and Magnolia Houston. The sun set on her earthly life May 13, 2019. Gwendolyn was a graduate of Flint Southwestern High School, Class of 1980.

In 1983, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio enrolling in the Job Corps of America majoring in the BRACK program. After completing this program in 1984 she relocated to New York City, NY. This program afforded her the opportunity to obtain gainful employment with Metro-North Railroad located at Grand Central Terminal.

After 34 years of service, Gwen retired in 2018 as General Station Master of the Grand Central Terminal. Gwendolyn loved reading, traveling, and shopping. But most of all she loved her family.

Gwendolyn was always a giver with selfless and random acts of kindness. She touched the lives of many of whom she encountered: as noted with her humble spirit she always thought of others before herself. She leaves to cherish in her memory three sisters Glenda Henderson of Flint, MI; Robin Moore of Grand Blanc, MI and Karen Houston of Union City, GA; three brothers Kenneth (Shannon) Houston of Las Vegas, NV; Alan (Celena) Houston, Sr. of McDonough, GA and Keith Houston of Grand Blanc, MI.

three nieces Dr. Gwendolyn (Rev. Alonzo) Redic, III of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Tommilisa (Adrian) Howard of Macon, GA and Alana Houston of Flint, MI; three nephews Duane (Marquette) Jones of Macon, GA; Derrick Houston of Bronx, NY and Alan Houston Jr. of McDonough, GA; 11 Great-nieces Shawntevia, Jalissa, Kortni, Keyonna, Brenda, Shakayla, Takyra, Janyia, Zaire and Jada; 2 Great-Nephews Justin and Jackson 1 Great-Great Nephew Chakyl Jr. and 1 Great-Great Niece Kaidence, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and a host of friends including special friends Connie Lewis, Laura Collins and Rod Faison.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by parents Booker T. and Magnolia Houston, brother K.C. Houston and sister Brenda Houston.
