Obituary of Hazel Porter Hazel L. Porter, 92, formerly of 28 Campbell Ave. , Jamestown and Hultquist Place passed away Wednesday (October 3, 2018) in the Lutheran Home. She was born November 4, 1925 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Theodore C. and Lillian Stephan Rathmann.

Hazel was a graduate of Fostick Maston High School in Buffalo and in earlier years was employed by James B. Schwab Company in Falconer. Prior to retirement Hazel was employed by Bethlehem Lutheran Church serving as the church secretary. Hazel was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lutheran Retirement Home Auxiliary having served as vice president, GA Children’s Home Auxiliary, Ross Grange 305 having served as treasurer, Poland Senior Citizen, Green Thumb Environmental Beautification and served as a Foster Grandparent at C.C. Ring Elementary School.

She also volunteered at the Falconer Public Library and LSS Gift Shop. Hazel enjoyed her family, church and friends. Surviving are three children: James W. (Patricia) Porter Jr. of Haverford, PA, Rev.

Raymond C. (Melanie) Porter of Decatur, GA, Barbara (Patrick) O’Flynn of Drexel Hill, PA; four grandchildren: Jeffrey W. (Alexis) Porter of Bronxville, NY, Julie W. (Judson) Sturdivant of Dallas, TX, Joshua C. (Megan) Porter of Atlanta, GA, Nicholas J. (Leah) Porter of Atlanta, GA; two great grandchildren: Briggs Davis Porter and Crosby James Porter. She was preceded in death by her husband James W. Porter Sr., whom she married August 7, 1948, who died August 28, 1985. The funeral will be held at 12 p.m. Sunday in the Christ Chapel of the Lutheran Home, 715 Falconer St., Jamestown, NY.

Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt chaplain of Lutheran Home will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service Sunday in Christ Chapel of the Lutheran Home. Memorial contributions may be donated to the Falconer Public Library, 101 W. Main St., Falconer, NY 14733 or the Lutheran Foundation, 715 Falconer St., Jamestown, NY 14701.
