Helen “Dean” Smith, age 83, of Amity, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. She was born on April 10, 1935, in Murfreesboro, the daughter of Carl Lockeby and Mertie Cooley Lockeby. On February 16, 1952, she was married to Leo Smith.

She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Vicky Smith; her parents; two brothers, Huey Lockeby and Dave Lockeby; and one sister, Margie Funderburk. She was a retired daycare operator who dearly loved taking care of and watching many children grow up over the years. She enjoyed quilting, until her eyesight got to the point where she could no longer make her beautiful quilts.

She is survived by her husband, Leo Smith of Amity; her son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Melissa Smith of Conway; and three grandchildren, Kevin Smith, Danyelle Rollans and Jeffery Smith. Services will be held at 9:00 AM, Saturday, July 28, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. John McAnally officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Jones Cemetery. Guest registry is at www.
