Rhinebeck- Henry G. Ingber, 87, passed away at his home on September 20, 2018. Born in Queens on April 4, 1931, he was the son of the late Henry A. and Catherine (Braband) Ingber. Henry served in the Navy from 1951-1955 squadron VP45 after which he attended Fordham University.

He graduated in 1963 with his Bachelors in Science. On November 14, 1964, he married the love of his life, Claire “Becky” Lang in Pennsylvania. In 1976 they moved to Rhinebeck with their children while Henry worked for IBM from 1964-1989.

Mrs. Ingber survives at home. After IBM, Henry traveled the world as Lead Auditor for the Swedish company Det Norske Veritas. On occasion he worked for Fred VonHueson’s Butcher Shop in Rhinebeck.

Henry was a Charter member of the Rhinebeck Lion’s club as well as a member of the American Legion Post #429 and the VFW #7765. Henry loved soccer. He played from the time he was a child well into his 60’s.

He also coached the Del’s Dairy Cream little league team. In addition to his wife, Henry is survived by his children, Lorraine Gould of Phoenix, AZ, and his son H. Carl Ingber of Rhinebeck; grandchildren Angel Everett and Robby Everett; great grandchildren Anastasia and Landon; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Theresa Gunther and a brother, Richard Ingber.

Calling hours will be held at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 West Market Street, Rhinebeck, on October 7, 2018 from 2 to 5 PM. The Red Hook VFW #7765 and the American Legion Post #429 will have services during calling hours beginning at 4:30 PM. Mass will be celebrated at Good Shepherd Church in Rhinebeck on Monday October 8, 2018, at 10:30 AM.

Burial will follow in the Rhinebeck Cemetery with honors. Memorial donations can be made to the VFW #7765 30 Elizabeth St, Red Hook, NY 12571, or to the American Legion Post #429, PO Box 429, Rhinebeck, NY.
