Horace Richard Barrett, 65, husband of Kristina Moss Jurecek Barrett, of West Union, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019, at GHS Cottingham Hospice House. A native of Toccoa, GA, Mr. Barrett was the son of the late Ernest William and Rachel McCroskey Barrett. He formerly worked at Winn Dixie of Clemson and retired from Scenic Chevrolet, having worked as a car salesman.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, Mr.Barrett is survived by his daughters: Jamie Sha Barrett of Easley, SC, Ashley Louise Barrett of Clio, MI; step-daughter: Heather R. Ramsay (Rex) of Westminster, SC; brothers: Glen T. Barrett (Mickey) of Easley, SC, Melvin Verner Barrett (Patricia) of Toccoa, GA, Lloyd Thomas Barrett (Janice) of Starr, SC and Hubert Earle Barrett (Linda) of Cateechee, SC; sisters: Harriet Elaine Barrett Gilliam of Liberty, SC and Dora Faye Barrett Bryant (Junior) of Six Mile, SC; grandchildren: Katie Lynn Greene and Keith Garrett Hoover; and step-grandchildren: Kylie “Scout” Stephens and Ramey Wilson Stephens. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barrett was preceded in death by his brothers: John Steve Barrett and William Barrett; and a sister: Mary Ellen Barrett Dutton.

Horace always had a good joke to tell, and never met a stranger. His joy in life was to keep folks smiling and laughing. There was an aura of happiness constantly surrounding him.

Horace always ensured his loved ones knew how precious they were to him. He loved his church family, and was passionate about serving the Lord. His children and grandbabies were the loves of his life.

We will forever have the precious memories of his selfless love and hilarity. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walhalla, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
