25, 1927 to Ross G. & Laura Nolkamper McMillian in Weimar, TX. He married Betty Jean Kahanek on Aug. 19, 1951, in Hallettsville.

He was a veteran of the Korean War; member of the V.F.W. and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Howard is survived by: 2 daughters, Kay Manning and Gay O’Neill of Hallettsville; 3 grandchildren, Garett Ross Manning of Austin, Casey O’Neill of Oklahoma City, and Clayton O’Neill of Kansas, Missouri; and great grandchild Ty Davis. A special thanks to his caregiver, Helene Williams.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife Betty and his parents. Funeral Mass Service: 12 (noon), Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville; with Visitation starting at 10 am, and the Rosary starting at 10:30 am.

Pallbearers: Garett Manning, Clayton O’Neill, Richmond O’Neill, Leon L. Kahanek III, Robert Kahanek, and Joey Henke. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters.

Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church/School or donor’s choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
