Ida’s Obituary Ida Mae Peffley (06/21/1929 – 02/08/2019) Ida M. Peffley, 89, A resident of Sunrise of Gilbert assisted Living in Arizona passed away peacefully Friday February 8th, 2019 at Santé of Chandler/Hospice. Ida was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Paul V. Peffley, her daughter Kristi Van Aken, her sister Jean Kissel, her brother Max Middleton and parents Margaret and Richard Middleton. She is survived by her loving son David Peffley and his wife Jennifer, her sister Jo Harris, 3 grand children and 9 great grandchildren.

Ida was born in Parke County, Indiana and lived in various area’s around Anderson, Indiana where she graduated from Anderson High School in 1947. She worked at Fort Knox, Ky as a Secretary/Clerical support for Army operations where she met and married her husband Paul Peffley in 1962. Paul was in the Army and they lived in various locations around the world including Germany, Virginia, Hawaii and finally making Tempe home in 1971.

She resided in their Tempe residence until 2013 then moving to Assisted living in Gilbert, AZ. Ida was an avid reader of mystery novels and loved and cared for many cats over the years. She was always a positive influence on all who were blessed to know her as she always had a story and a kind word for those she met.

She had a wonderful life having traveled many places during their time serving in the Army and she was very content as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother and great grandmother as her family blossomed and prospered with the love and support that she provided all. Many thanks to Sunrise of Gilbert assisted living where they were always so kind and supportive of her during her almost 6 years there, Santé of Chandler/Hospice who were so kind, helpful and supportive during her last week, they have both been blessings to her and our family during these difficult times. We had planned a big 90th birthday celebration in June of this year and instead we will be holding a Celebration of life ceremony for family and friends to gather and celebrate Ida’s life.
