Ruth Anna Katharine Bergman September 19, 1926 – March 06, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Ruth Anna Katharine Bergman was born in Sedalia, Missouri to parents Phillip Jacob Bergmann and Stella Gesche Margaret (nee Hink) on September 19, 1926. After completing elementary and high school in Sedalia, she graduated from then Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, Missouri with a teaching degree and taught elementary school in Olathe, Kansas. On May 23, 1952, she and Gilbert Alonzo Bergman married and started their family in Phoenix, Arizona.

There, they raised 3 children, Douglas Keith, Stephanie Kay and Christine Marie. After Gilbert retired from the United States Postal Service, Ruth and he were active in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Ruth is predeceased by her father and mother, brothers Phillip and Eugene, and sister Philomene.

She is survived by her brother, Mark, husband of the home, Gilbert, her son Doug (and wife Deb), her daughter Stephanie Roland (and husband Stan), daughter Chris Scott (and husband Brad), and 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Ruth passed quietly in her home, as was her wish, at the age of 92 on Ash Wednesday, March 6th, 2019. The family is grateful to MD24 Home Health and Infinity Hospice for their care.
