David Allen Bartlett, known to his friends and family as “Red” was born in Buffalo, New York on September 24, 1949. At 19, Red joined the US Marines and was sent to Vietnam, where he took on the duties of a sharp shooter, machine gunner and a HADEW-1. Not long after he returned to the states and civilian life, he made a new home in Arizona.

That is where he met his longtime friend and brother, Hippie and he also met Marta. Red and Marta soon brought their beautiful baby girl, Nicole (Nikki) into this world on June 6, 1980. Red requested Hippie become the Godfather to his precious baby girl and Hippie gladly took on the role.

Red loved riding his Harley, going to the casino and shooting pool but his favorite past time was showing off Nikki! To know Red was an honor and you loved him immediately. Red’s friendship knew no boundaries and reached across all walks of life.

For the last 15 years, Red’s shadow, faithful companion and best friend was Arrion, his beloved white Pit bull. Red is survived by his only daughter, Nicole Manning; Marta Purvis, the mother of his only child; grandson and namesake, Preston David Bartlett; grandson Daniel Anthony Rodriguez; granddaughter Messiah Nicole Katlett; stepdaughter Kristina Aldrette and his beloved shadow and best friend, Arrion. The celebration of Red’s life will be held on February 17, 2019 at 10630 N 47th Drive, Glendale AZ from 1pm to 5pm at Duane’s.

Red’s last ride will be February 19th, 2019. We will be meeting at 10am at the American Legion Post 2125 S Industrial Park Ave, Tempe. Kickstands up at 1130am sharp to ride to the Red’s final place of rest located at 23029 Cave Creek Road, Phoenix 85024.

Red’s family looks forward to meeting all of his friends and hearing about everyone’s favorite memories with Red. Red always enjoyed a good party and Nikki is thankful and blessed to send Red home in style!
