Ingrid’s Obituary Ingrid Sue Turner Martin, age 68, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 25, 2019. Sue was born February 1, 1950 in Jay, Oklahoma to Calvin and Betty Turner. She graduated from Jay High School in 1968, and continued her education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah and graduated with a Master’s Degree.

She taught in the Jay School system for 32 years. As a teacher, Sue was compassionate and cared for her students. She had a way of touching the lives of each student that was in her classroom.

She married the love of her life, Leonard “Red” Martin in November 1968, and they were together as husband and wife for 51 years. Sue was an active and dedicated member of Piney Baptist Church. She loved attending Sunday School and Bible Studies.

She leaves the Church family many great memories and she will be greatly missed. She could speak Cherokee fluently. Sue loved the Jay Bulldogs; she was the Bulldogs’ greatest fan in all areas of sports – basketball, football, baseball.

She also enjoyed going to craft shows, and attending Gospel singings. Sue is survived by her husband, Leonard “Red” Martin, and 2 sons, Leonard “Choogie” Martin II of the home and Brian Martin of Jay; 3 sisters and 1 brother, Jane and William Chewey of Jay, Debra Turner and Dewayne Matthews of Claremore, Karen Compton of Jay, and Steve Turner of Jay; 5 grandchildren , Logan, Gavin, Elle, Trey, and Elizabeth; 3 great-grandchildren , Ford, Luke, and Lalaina; 13 nieces and nephews , Kelli, Lacie, Brick, Kyle, Newton, D.J., Dustin, Sydney, Brad, Shane, Alisha, Kristie and Jimbo; and numerous cousins, extended family and friends. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Turner and Betty Dennis Turner; 2 brothers, Calvin Turner, Jr. and Dale Turner; and her dog, Billy Bob.

Sue’s Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 2:00pm, Piney Baptist Church, D4343 Rd. , Jay, OK 74346 with Rev. Jess Jones and Rev.

Chester Crittenden Officiating. Services will conclude in the chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray, St. Jay, OK 74346 with Shaunda J. Lawson, Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
