Dollie M. Dixon, age 87, of Grove, OK went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Grove Nursing Center. Dollie was born on October 25, 1931 to Luther and Lily (McGill) Bayless in Ward, AR, where she grew up and attended school. On June 12, 1948 Dollie married the love of her life, A.J. Dixon, in Benton, AR.

The couple made their home in Ward, AR. Dollie was a homemaker while her children were small. After they were grown, she went to work as a hairdresser and later as the bookkeeper at the family business, Ward Meat Processing.

She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Ward. In 2004, Dollie moved to Melbourne, FL to be near her daughter and had just recently relocated to Grove, OK with her daughter. Dollie treasured her friends and family.

She was a great listener and was always more interested in hearing how her friends and family were, than talking about herself. She took a genuine interest in everyone she encountered, but Dollie also had a “sassy” side and was never afraid to stand her own. More than anything she loved Jesus and was told many times that she “was going to pester Jesus to death” praying over the ones she cared about.

Dollie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant and three adult brothers and son, Larry Dixon. Left to cherish her memory: daughter, Janice Marie of Grove, OK; grandchildren: Larry Dixon Riley, Jr., Michelle Jones and husband, Wes, Kim Davenport and husband, Mike, Robyn Huskey, James Newberry, and Shawn Newberry and wife, Lisa; 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; in-laws: Dearl Dixon and wife, Shelba, Ellen Dixon-Griffin, Winoka Dixon, Ed Roe, Betty Duke, Betty Griffiths and Imogene Bayless. Funeral services will be at 2pm Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Dayspring Missionary Baptist Church in Ward, AR.
