Irene’s Obituary Irene Quig, 92, of Liverpool passed away peacefully Monday March 4th at home. Irene Anne Ezick was one of ten children born in Earlville to Polish immigrants Caroline and Walter Ezick. She graduated from Cortland State Teachers College in 1946 with an elementary education degree.

A teacher for more than 30 years in the Liverpool school district, she retired in 1986. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her devotion to family. She was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed her Florida winters in Key West and Sarasota, and special family vacations on Long Beach Island. She developed many friendships playing bridge in several clubs and golfing at Arrowhead. She was committed to her faith and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary and Pope John XXIII churches in Liverpool.

She was predeceased by her first husband of 21 years Joseph G. Kohl in 1974, second husband of 27 years Vincent L. Quig in 2014; brothers, Edward, Frederick, Thaddeus, Chester and Edwin; and sisters Geneva, Wanda, Florence and Bernice. She is survived by her son Joseph (Cindy) Kohl, daughter Janet (John) Wysokowski; sister-in-law Joanne Ezick; grandchildren John (Christine) Wysokowski, Jeffrey (Jenna) Wysokowski, Kristin (Luke) McDonald, Kevin (Jennifer) Kohl, Thomas (Kristy Pron) Wysokowski, Eric (Kara) Kohl, Trevor S. (Lori) Quig, Carrie (Brian) Salisbury, Deidre (John) Fisher, and Adrienne Decerce; 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Inc. 300 Second Street, Liverpool.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 9:00 am at the Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Pope John the XXIII Church, 8290 Soule Road, Liverpool, NY. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, 800 Grant Blvd. Syracuse.

Donations in Irene’s memory can be made to Save the Children or the Syracuse Rescue Mission.
