Margaret’s Obituary Margaret (O’ Meara) Kuppel was welcomed into heaven on Monday. Peg was 97 and she was born and raised in Syracuse. She graduated from St Patrick’s high school.

Peg was forever grateful as her brother Dick generously paid for her to attend and complete business school. Peg worked at Syracuse University for the Dome Director and was a valued employee at the time the Carrier Dome was taking off and all throughout her tenure. She loved her work at the Dome and with the added benefit of free SU tuition for Karen and Kevin, it was her dream job!

She was an avid Cuse fan and enjoyed her Irish heritage, golf, especially with Dick, Phil, and her dad, Heineken, bridge, poker, her many dogs and cooking for her family. Her greatest joy was her family and she had a knack of making everyone feel special. Peg cherished her grandchildren and their friends.

She was very involved in her grandchildren’s academic achievements, their proms, and the many sports in which they participated. She was always ready to listen and not to judge. All the reminiscing that’s been going on solidifies just how lucky we all were to have her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Philip, her son, baby Phil, her sister Anne Sansone, her brother, Dick O’Meara, her parents Patrick and Margaret (Ryan) O’Meara (who came from Ireland), her beloved nieces, Peggy Corning, Joan Costello, Gail Olszewski, and her beloved nephews Bud and Sam Sansone. Survived by her daughter, Karen Unangst (Nick Aragona), and son, Kevin (Joyce) Kuppel. Peg has made a loving imprint of memories on the lives of her 5 grandchildren, Megan (Ben) Milczarski, Abby (Roger) Kemp, Shannon (Jim) Spina, Chris Unangst (Steph Scibilia), and Jamie Kuppel (Rachael Musengo).

She was also blessed with her great-grandchildren, Riley, Reese, Cato, Quinn, Gianni, Logan, and Bain. Peg’s family is very grateful for the exceptional loving care and support from Hospice and Francis House. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 30 from 4 – 7 pm at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 31 at 9:30 am at St Joseph the Worker Church, 1001 Tulip St. Liverpool. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Margaret’s memory to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave.

Syracuse, NY 13208 (francishouseny.org). Francis House is such a gift to our community and we were blessed to have Peg there for her final days.
