Obituary for James E. Ickes Sr, James E. Ickes, Sr., 70 of Confluence ( Stewart Twp. ) died Tuesday October 23, 2018 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born June 21, 1948 in Wilkinsburg a son of the late Charles and Betty Slates Ickes.
He was a veteran of the Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He was retired from the Norfolk & Southern Railroad, formerly Conrail. He was a member of the AmVets and the Donegal American Legion and the Turkeyfoot Sportsmen Club.
Mr. Ickes is survived by his wife Julia T. McCabe Ickes; his children, James E. Ickes, Jr. and his wife Yolanda of Herminie, Ronald C. Ickes and his wife Judith of Scottdale, Ronald R. Cecchett of White, Billie J. Mastowski and her husband Michael of Normalville and Danielle Meyers and her husband Brian of Penn; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five sisters, Barbara Palmer and her husband Frank of Utah, Betty Schmidt and her husband Arnold of Penn, Nancy Cline and her husband Rich of Jeannette, Patty Critchlow and her husband Lee of Herminie and Verna Ferrari and her husband Mark and two brothers, Raymond Ickes and his wife Mary of Virginia Beach, Va. and Howard “Butch” Ickes and his wife Louann of Irwin. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son, Michael Paul Ickes.
Friends will be received from 2-4, 6-8 P.M. Thursday and Friday in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Municipal Building Road and Route 711, Melcroft, Pa. where services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Tracey McCabe, his nephew, officiating.
