fulkersonsplentywood.com James Boyd Rogers was born on March 18, 1959 in Sacramento CA. Closely surrounded in love and sorrow by his brother and two sisters, Jim gently passed away the morning of March 25, 2019 at his home in Plentywood, MT, just 8 days after celebrating his 60th birthday with his friends and family. Jimmers is survived by sisters, Annette Rogers Waddle and Kathryn Rogers Musial and by his brother John Orval Rogers.

Preceding him in death was his sister Nancy Rogers Lewis; his mother Ruth Bulmer Rogers and father James Boyd Rogers Sr He joined the Coast Guard right after graduation from high school where he remained active for four years until being Honorably Discharged. After that he took his time figuring out what he would do next.

During the next several years found himself trekking through New Zealand for a year or so. He loved the sea and boats so he spent many cold days and nights working for Arctic Alaska Fisheries on fishing vessels in Alaska. He also sailed a friend’s yacht around the world.

Eventually after landing in Seattle he met a woman who pointed him in the direction of Plentywood where he found many avenues of employment that included Cenex, John Deere and the State Department of Transportation. In Plentywood he made many friends…. and they were not just acquaintances – they were friends.

Two of them were Doris and Irv Steltzer whom he always referred to as Mom and Dad. They made him a part of their family, as they still are after his passing. He was also a very proud lifelong member of The National Rifle Association.

His family will remember Jimmers as always being a loyal, kind and gentle person. His sisters say that he was always a very good kid who never got into trouble even once while growing up. And also that he never had a bad or negative thing to say about anyone or anything as he was a very clear thinker and intuitively knew to steer away from all of that.

He will be sorely missed by many who knew him. Services were held on March 28, 2019 at Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood.
