James L. Calvert, 82, of Washington, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at New Haven Care Center, New Haven, Missouri. James was born in Gordon, Texas on September 6, 1935, a son of the late James William & Faye (Harmon) Calvert. He was the widower of Martha Ruth (Abbott) Calvert.

They were united in marriage on February 6, 1956, in Clayton, New Mexico. Martha passed away on October 22, 2009. James was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Washington, Missouri, the Elks Club in Washington, and he was a mason.

James worked as a mechanic for Purcell Tire in Washington for 40 years. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and doing wood carvings, but mostly he loved spending time with his grandchildren. James is survived by a son, Gary Calvert & wife Janet, of Foley, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Zachary, Lucas, Sarah, & Nora, by four sisters, Barbara J. Calvert, of Coleman, Texas; Wilma J. Massey, of Coleman, Texas; Melva A. Ash, of Sinton, Texas; and Wanda R. Alaniz, of Taft, Texas; and by many nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, by a brother Kenneth R. Calvert, and two sisters Patricia Ann Calvert & Joy Faye Beyer. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 1st from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Washington, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Brett Blair & Rev.

Fred Broome officiating. Burial will be at Nortman Cemetery, New Haven, Missouri. Memorials may be given to Church or Cemetery.
