James M. Leonard Jr. February 18, 1947 – January 17, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card James M. Leonard, Jr., 71, of Seybert Street, Hazleton, died Thursday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton. Born in Hazleton, February 18, 1947, he was a son of the late James and Mary (Palko) Leonard, Sr. and was a member of the Audenried-Jeansville United Methodist Church. James was a 1965 graduate of Hazleton High School and until his retirement was employed for over 40 years at Silgan of Hazleton.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War completing two tours of duty and receiving the Purple Heart Medal. James was a member of the American Legion, the Freeland VFW and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He is only preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife, the former Eleanor Bevans to whom he would have been married for 50 years this July; daughters Elaine Nause and her husband Jeffrey and Brenda Leonard and her significant other John; son James Michael Leonard, III; grandchildren Tristan, Madison, Kian, Camryn and Evelyn; sister Rose Marie Wickiser; step-brother Dwight Hurn and his wife Bonnie and niece Melissa Bowditch and her husband Tom. Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hazle Chapel of Krapf and Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., 426 West Broad Street, Hazleton. The evening will end with a prayer service conducted by Rev.
