Thayer, James Merrick of St. Clair, Missouri was born November 20, 1924 in Mt Vernon, Missouri, to Merrick and Angie (nee Hendricks) Thayer and entered into rest Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the age of 94 years, 5 months, and 28 days. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rosaline (nee Bilyeu) Thayer and one sibling Julia Rose. He is survived by, four (4) children, Donna Sue (Robert) Bosley , Stephen (Faye) Thayer, Deborah (Cletus) Stahl, Rena (Don) Lashley, fifteen (15) grandchildren, twenty-seven (27) great-grandchildren, six (6) great-great grandchildren, and many other family and friends.

James proudly served his country in World War II. He was a member of Local 513 International Union of Operating Engineers. James had a passion for playing Blue Grass music with his fiddle.

He enjoyed fishing and going hunting with his family. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary 6300 Hwy 30 Cedar Hill, Missouri 63016.

Service Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125. Family and friends can review and share stories, photos and condolences online at www.
