– James Richard York, 66 of Thomasboro, IL, passed away at 3:35 PM on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Champaign Urbana Nursing and Rehab in Savoy, IL. There will be a memorial visitation from 5-7PM on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd. , Urbana, IL.

James was born August 14, 1952 in Champaign, a son of James and Hazel(Grice) York. He married Donna Peterson on May 7, 1979 in Champaign. She survives.

Also surviving are two stepsons, James Pruitt(Regina) of Urbana, and Timothy Pruitt(Anita) of Oswego, IL; four stepdaughters, Penny Pruitt of Champaign, Suzette Flaishans of Mahomet, Susan Pruitt of Ceterville, MI and Regina Harms(Del) of Seymour, IL; 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and two brothers, Donny York of Urbana, and Randy York of Rantoul. There are many nieces and nephews that also survive. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, and his parents.

James was a union carpenter for Carpenters Union Local 44 and had worked at Mack’s Recycling for 12 years. He enjoyed playing guitar, camping, fishing, riding motorcycles and he loved his family very much. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the family.
