He was born on April 19, 1951 in a birthing house in Snowflake, Arizona to Earl “Bud” and Gwen Childers. In 1968, he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Marie, they were married on February 22, 1971, and had three gorgeous loving girls.

They spent almost 49 years together sharing their love and raising a family, which “Soco” took much pride in all his family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. He was known as a mountain man and hunting legend throughout the community. He taught his family to love unconditionally and to be there to help family and friends when needed, to put others before one’s self.

He will be greatly missed by many. He was preceded in death by his father: Earl “Bud” Childers; mother: Gwen Childers; sister: Ginger Rogers; and brothers: Ray Rogers, Bobby Rogers and Anthony Rogers. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend: Marie; daughters: Cheryl and her husband James Smith; Charlene Childers Hull; Michelle and her husband Evan Rosekrans; grandchildren: James and Jayda Halverson, Trinity and Katie Childers, Shyanna Halverson, David Halverson, Asher Hull and Levi Hull; great-grandson: James “Little Soco” Halverson; brothers: Frank “Boy” and Susan Childers, Danny and Janet Childers, Joe and Annette Childers and his sister: Rhonda Zens.
