He was born in Logan County on February 21, 1922 to the late James Delmer and Agnes (Bray) Renfro. He was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle and retired from Emerson Electric as a Punch Press Operator.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Wilma Head Renfro, his second wife Mary Johnson Renfro, brothers Lester, Burns, Boyce, Woodrow and Earl, sisters Katherine Farmer, Janie Peyton, Pansy Addison. James is survived by his: Son Jimmy Renfro of Elkton five step daughters, three grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services for James Wesley Renfro will be conducted Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Bro.
