Obituary for James William Freeman James William Freeman, 87, of Jonesborough, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Waters, in Johnson City. He was born in Carter County and lived most of his life in Washington County. James was the son of the late C.C. and Lela Pauline Freeman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carmel Edwards Freeman, his brother, Joe Pal Freeman, and a sister, Peggy Ann Nelms. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. James later worked as a masonry contractor.

He was a loving father husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Those left to cherish James’ memory include his son, James Gary Freeman, of Jonesborough, three daughters: Janet Gayle Freeman and her husband James Thomas Cook, of Alabama, Joan Euletta McCracken and her husband Steve, of Limestone, and James Carolyn Adams and her husband Terry, of Jonesborough; grandchildren: Jana Erin Archer, James Justin Freeman, both of Jonesborough, and Jordan William Coggins and his wife Kelsey, of Greeneville; great-grandson, Hanley William Coggins, of Jonesborough; three sisters: Cheryl Laws, Barbara Rupert, and Brenda Barnette, all of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. The family will honor James’ Life at a Graveside and Committal Service at 11:00 am on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Jonesborough.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews: Joey Freeman, Greg Nelms, Doug Nelms, Bo Laws, Hobert Jones, Greg Riddle, and Danny Mack Keys.
