Obituary for Jan Elizabeth Kershaw Jan Elizabeth Kershaw, age 65, of Edwardsville, Illinois died at 3:53 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. Jan was a retired nurse having worked St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Granite City and Touchette Regional in Centerville. She was born December 24, 1952, in Highland, Illinois the daughter of the late John J. & Edith (Rohrkaste) Merkel.

She married Michael G. Kershaw on August 2, 1970, in St. Charles, Missouri. Besides her husband she is survived by 2 sons, Kristopher M. Kershaw & wife Jill of Burke, Virginia and Todd A. Kershaw & Julie Varble of Glen Carbon; 3 grandchildren, Alexa, Abigail, & Owen Kershaw; and 1 brother, Jeffrey Merkel of Edwardsville; 1 aunt, Marion Merkel of Glen Carbon; Cousins, John E. Merkel & wife Cheryl of Edwardsville; Best Friends, Bill & Pamela Fuller of Edwardsville; and special friend Barbara Hart of Collinsville. She was a member of the Alumni Association at Lewis & Clark Community College.

Jan loved to travel and went to Africa, Peru and the Amazon. She was especially proud of delivering a baby in a hut in the Amazon. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home.

Services will at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home with Rev. John Roberts officiating. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery.
