Johnsburg- Jane (Schmitt) Mann, 84, passed away peacefully in her home, with her family at her side on April 18, 2018. She was born in 1933, in Johnsburg the oldest daughter of George and Martha (Tonyan) Schmitt. She attended McHenry High School and graduated in 1951.

On July 7, 1956, Jane was united in marriage to George Mann at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. She spent the next 62 years enjoying life to its fullest with George always at her side raising their four daughters. … Read More » She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, sewing, long walks, skiing, snowshoeing, and bike rides.

Her 10 grandchildren were the center of her life and loved dearly. She took tremendous pride in watching them play school sports. She was never happier than when the entire family gathered for dinner, or around the Christmas tree.

She cherished her “little” sisters dearly and maintained a She was a devoted Catholic and lifelong member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church, its Blessed Virgin Society and the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters. Jane loved life because of the people she filled it with. Survivors include her beloved husband, George, three daughters; Darlene (Lawerence) Bergquist of Mercer,Wisconsin, Cynthia Goulet of McHenry, Arlet (Daniel) Gallagher of Johnsburg; son-in-law James Dawson; 10 truly loved, grandchildren, Amanda Dawson, Lisa (Ed) Saba, Bennett and Laura Bergquist, Christopher (Ryann) Goulet, Colin Goulet, Josh and Amanda Gallagher, Megan and Rebecca Lanway; 3 great grandchildren, Nya Lanway, Evelyn Jane Saba, Therese Goulet; 4 sisters, Adele Buss, Margery Carol (Rod) Kasar, Lois (Don) Johnson, Elaine (Jim) Batz and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and the heartbreaking loss of her oldest daughter, Karen Marie Dawson in November of 2010. She will be missed by many, especially her husband George. Funeral mass will be held at St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg on Monday, April 23 at 10:30am.

The family will be greeting relatives and friends before service starting at 9:30 am.
