Obituary for Janet “Kay” (Benner) Dodds GREENFIELD – Janet “Kay” (Benner) Dodds, Age 76, of Greenfield, IN passed away Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 at Community North Hospital. She was the first-born child and pride-and-joy of Paul Benner and Margaret (Graham) Benner on June 11th, 1942. She grew up in the verdant fields of Remington, IN where she graduated from Remington High School in 1960.

Always a lover of learning, she graduated in 2004 from Our Lady of Guadalupe Bible College. She was married to Richard “Dick” Robinson of Francesville, IN on August 18th, 1962 who proceeded her in death in 1992. Through the ministry of the Indianapolis’s Archdiocese widows support group, she met and married Donald Dodds of Bedford, IN on November 25th, 1995 in Greenfield, IN.

Kay was a life-long entrepreneur. With husband Dick, she owned and operated an LP Gas distributorship in Remington, IN, a silk-screen sign company in Greenfield and a campground in New Castle, IN. She also founded Covenant Financial Services, Inc., an equipment leasing company, in 1995.

Her life-long passion though was always ministry, and she lived her faith-in-action life from the earliest years of her family’s memory. Starting in Remington in the early 70’s, she was the children’s choir director at Sacred Heart Church. Always active in church and local services, she was a cantor and choir member of Saint Anne Catholic Church in New Castle and Saint Michael Catholic Church in Greenfield as well as a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) and Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) instructor.

Kay was involved in a myriad of groups. Among them, she was a joyful member of Regnum Christi, a mentor to her local M.O.P.S. Chapter (Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers) and an early driving force for Hancock County Hope House homeless shelter.

Her most lasting ministry may be ChangingHearts. US, a ministry with a global reach and weekly radio broadcasts. She is survived by her husband, Donald, children Dan (Laura) Robinson of Shawano, WI, Julia (Moe) Arafa of Fishers, IN, Mary (James) McGovern of Buford, GA, Paul (Suzanne) Dijak-Robinson of Indianapolis, IN and Rich (Anna) Robinson of Burbank, CA; step-children Nancy (Wes) Chinworth of North Judson, IN, Sue (Auston) Miller of Annandale, VA, Mike Dodds of Indianapolis, IN, Beth (Scott) Fenton of Columbus, OH and Mark (Kerry) Dodds of Greenfield, IN; siblings Paulette (Maury) Waymouth of Monticello, IN, Mick (Susie) Benner of Remington, IN, Barb (Ed) Federer of Wolcott, IN and Gerard (Cathy) Benner of West Lafayette, IN; 26 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 28th, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. EST at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, June 29th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd.
