Janice Leonard Hayes October 09, 1944 – February 04, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Mrs. Janice Leonard Hayes, 74, formerly of Hammond Road, died Monday, February 04, at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville. A funeral service will be held at 3pm Friday, February 8 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Revs. Craig Walker and Mark Blair.

Burial will follow at the Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Hayes was born October 9, 1944 in Valdosta, GA to Julian Bruce Leonard and Clafton Hinkle Leonard.

She graduated from NC School for the Deaf in Morganton and worked at the North Davidson Public Library for more than 20 years. She volunteered for the Davidson County Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing, where she also served on the Board of Directors. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Buford Hayes, Jr.; her daughter, Julie Seibert and husband, John, of Raleigh; her son, Jason Hayes and wife, Anna, of Lexington; and her grandchildren, Candice Hayes and fiancé, Lynn Lusk, Coleman Hayes, Emerson Hayes, and Will Seibert.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr, High Point, NC 27262 or to Davidson County Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, 8 Franklin Street, Lexington NC 27292. The family would like to share its deepest gratitude for the excellent care provided these last two years by the staff at Piedmont Crossing and Hospice of the Piedmont.
