Jay Laverne Hoover, 67, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania went to be with the Lord on October. 26, 2018. He was born on August 28, 1951 in Leola , Pennsylvania to Elmer and Martha (Boll ) Hoover.

He was the husband of Janet (Kuhns) Hoover, whom he was married to for 47 years. He was a family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a loyal friend. He was a truck driver all of his working life.

He and Janet enjoyed camping especially at Spruce Lake Retreat. He was a member of the LifeGate Ministries in Waynesboro, PA. Jay is survived by his wife and their two sons: Jeffery (husband of Tina) Hoover and Jeryl (husband of Roxanne) Hoover of Chambersburg.

He has four loving grandchildren: Paige, Rachel, Emily and Derek. He is also survived by his eight siblings: Shirlene (Irvin)Redcay, Clair(Ruth) Hoover, Glenn (Ginny) Hoover, Curvin (Laverne) Hoover, Clyde (Erma) Hoover, Ella Faye (Ken) Stoner, Lloyd (Elaine) Hoover and Lucy (Don) Weaver, all of Lancaster County. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Nelson and a sister-in-law, Jean.

He is also survived by Nelson’s wife, Esther (Ken) Meck. Funeral services will be Thursday November. 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Chambersburg Mennonite Church with Revs.

Delton Lehman, Dale Martin and Lloyd Hoover officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00 till 4:00 and 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the church and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
