Obituary for Mrs. Jean Young Starr A celebration of life for Mrs. Jean Young Starr, 63, of Jacksonville, will be on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 2:00 pm at West Side Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Rev. Truman Norred officiating. The family will receive friends on the same day from 12 noon until service time.

Mrs. Starr passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Jacksonville RMC. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Mark Starr; daughters, Lacee Starr and Megan Skidmore (Mitchell); sisters, Janice Trantham, Judy Williams and Cherie Maroney (Ricky); brother, Clayton Young (Judy); granddaughters, Charlee Skidmore and Ella Skidmore, and a host of extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Blake Starr; parents, Ed and Lois Young, and a sister, Joyce Gilliand.

Mrs. Starr was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville. She was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and Jacksonville State University. She helped raise our children in Jacksonville by teaching kindergarten at Kitty Stone Elementary for 29 years.

She was delighted when she had the opportunity to teach her former students children. Mrs. Starr was an avid reader and loved sharing her love of books with her grandchildren. Since her retirement in 2012, Mrs. Starr and her husband have enjoyed traveling and spending time with their granddaughters.

Mrs. Starr was a loving and caring wife, mother, NaNa, aunt, teacher and friend and will be deeply missed by all who had the great pleasure of knowing her.
