Obituary of Jean Spencer Jean Marie Spencer (Bensing) was born on September 23, 1929 on the northside and was a lifetime resident of Syracuse. Jean passed away peacefully on Saturday June 30, 2018 surrounded by her family. She has been happily reunited with her beloved husband, of 60 years Jim Spencer, her parents Raymond and Bernadine Bensing, her brother Ray Bensing, brother-in-law Jack Spencer and her daughter-in-law Melissa Spencer, Jean was a loving wife and mother, “the life of the party”, and affectionately known as “Geege” to family and their friends.

Jean was a member of the Hill and Dale Gardening Club, member of St. Camillus Auxiliary, St. Ann’s Altar and Rosary and longtime member of Bellevue Country Club and their women’s 18-hole league. She was an avid bridge player, golfer, bowler, tennis player, and formerly employed at Doust Gallery in Fairmount. She enjoyed traveling and golf trips with her Cobblestone “group” as well as time spent with family, especially the family camp on Oneida Lake.

Jean is survived by her children; Christine Dalpan (Len Banach); Mary Beth (Paul) Davis and Jim (Mary Jo) Spencer her grandchildren John Dalpan, Nora, Julianne and Christopher Davis. In Lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Camillus Foundation or Brady Faith Center. There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM St. Ann’s Church on July 5, 2018. Burial is at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dewitt.
