Obituary for JOSEPH F. MANZANO Joseph F. Manzano, 76, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Solvay, passed away September 12th at his home in Boca Raton. He was born in Syracuse to the late Joseph and Clara (Ricardo) Manzano in 1942. Following graduation from Solvay High School, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving active and reserve duty from 1961-1967.

He worked at Crucible Steel for over 30 years before retiring as a skilled millwright. He was a former member of the Jaycees, Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Solvay Tigers AC, member and lifeguard of the Solvay-Geddes Community Youth Center. As a skilled millwright, he won many awards for the custom knives he made.

He was also a custom woodworker and leather worker. Joe was a collector of many things, knives, precision guns, decoys and shoes. He enjoyed physical fitness, working out, walking and cross country skiing.

Joe was a caring and loving husband, brother, uncle, step-dad, godfather and friend. He was predeceased by his first wife of 36 years, Antoinette “Annie” (Dattola) Manzano in 2005 and sister, Linda Johnson in 2018. He is survived by his wife, the former Rose Villa, of Boca Raton, FL, 2 sisters; Phyllis Anthony, of Del Ray Beach, FL and Claire (Marty) Currie, of Syracuse, 2 brothers; David (Betty) Manzano, of Howlett Hill and Rick Manzano, of Solvay, brother-in-law; Neal Johnson, of Oswego, 3 aunts; Pauline Carrodeguas, Jeanette Manzano and Marie Gallucci, 3 step-children and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held 9:45 am Saturday October 6th at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, October 5th at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue.
