Obituary of Norman Paul Norman F. “Pete” Paul, 80, of Jamesville, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the VA Medical Center. He was born July 7, 1938, in Syracuse, the son of the late James and Norma O’Brien Paul. Pete was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam era, stationed in Germany.

For 23 years, he was employed with Alpha Portland Cement Co He later worked for 30 years as the Materials Manager at Syracuse University, retiring in 2016. Mr. Paul served as a Councilman for the Town of LaFayette for 24 years, was a 30 year volunteer with the Jamesville Cemetery, a 57 year volunteer with the Jamesville Fire Department and was a member of the Arthur W. Butler American Legion Post #359 in East Syracuse.

Pete loved life, his family and the town of Jamesville to the fullest but that paled in comparison to the love he shared for his four grandchildren. He was unselfish and believed in treating people fairly and with kindness. He was very active in his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and scholastic events.

Pete also enjoyed playing golf and classic cars. He was a huge NY Yankees and Syracuse University Orange fan. He could fix anything and was always there to lend a helping hand.

Pete had strong family values which he lived by and taught to his children and grandchildren. This was a true testament of him as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris L. Pofahl Paul; two children, Douglas (Jennifer) Paul and Nancy (Donald) Rindfuss; four grandchildren, Emma and Kendal Paul and Nathan and Daniel Rindfuss, all of Jamesville; a brother, James (Patricia) Paul of Auburn; a sister, Carol DeGroot of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Paul. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 am at Jamesville Community Church, 6300 E. Seneca Turnpike, Jamesville, with Pastor Mark Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Jamesville-Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider the Jamesville Fire Department, in his memory.
